Tracks from 107.3FM Reprezent - 23rd February 2012

Here are all the tracks that were on the show yesterday night on 107.3FM Reprezent Radio. They were all great, I hope you will agree:

Bingo Players - L'Amour

new release “L’Amour” has a pretty massive sound and I don’t think the release being right before spring and the start of festival season begins is any coincidence, they want to be part of it!

Timo Juuti & Hector 87 – Cheap Bad Moves
My friend, Tom The Hatchet, has just informed me that Hector 87 is a old Japanese snes game called starship hector which came out in 1987, it was called Hector 87 in Japan. That is a fact people, store that in the memory bank.

Le Crayon - Lucky Couple

I was given a little message from Le Crayon just after I walked in the studio who said 'that track was made for a 100% made in France nu-disco compilation, but ironically enough it's really inspired by English producer Starsmith and Aussi prodigy Shazam. It's just a very repetitive synth-based track, obviously unmastered and produced in my very small room/basement in Paris with the help of a lot of smoke, which is prob why the sidechain is so wrong :)

Da Chip - 8bit Daft Punk

Do you like Daft Punk? Yes. Do you like Retro computer games? of course. would you like Daft Punk tunes recreated in 8bit sounds? Why the hell are you asking me this, just play me them. Is what you would say to me if I asked you that.

Acorrding to legend, the DA CHIP project started back in 2008 as an open competition organised on the8bitcollective website by two french artists,Je deviens dj en 3 jours and Zombectro.

A jury composed of 3 chiptune artists, Random, GwEm & 8GB voted for the best tracks : it became the first DA CHIP compilation.

4 years after, DA CHIP is back with 12 new artists and it's still 100 % chip. They have just released number 2 mixtape.

Aeroplane - We can't fly

The only problem with Aeroplane is that I can never find all of his songs in one place, just as I think I have collected all he has another will come to my attention, this is exactly what happened with this. ‘We Can’t fly’ was released over a year ago it’s the album with the same name, but this came to my attention with a remix from The Glimmers. However the remix or any remixes of this track can’t hold a torch to it as the original has so much to offer.
It starts with bongos in almost a chilled trance track but then molds itself into a reggae style French house mix match with harmonic choir and then dips into a 80s funk beat with a synth that reminds me of Scfi-fi B movie . This tune offers everything with jabbing piano chords, oceanic keyboard washes & menacing synth burbles and they all complement each other perfectly.

Timo Juuti & Hector 87 - Woo Chicks & Disco Wobblez EP

Some more Finnish house for you fresh of the press, after recently blogging Lenno & Jesse Oliver and hearing more and more about them as the months past suddenly pops up Timo juuti & Hector 87. The producing
team are to release Woo Chicks & Disco Wobblez EP, out in Beatport exclusive on March 5th 2012.

The original mix of Cheap Bad Moves is already licensed for the forthcoming Hed Kandi / Ministry of Sound compilation World Series MIAMI Volume II - http://bit.ly/wLXHMs

Listening to all of the tracks they are very Miami winter music conference. There is no doubt about these guys talent, according to their label, La Valigetta they allegedly raided a local library to sample loads of old disco records, they used these to create something totally different, their very own blend of disco house and pop-savvy electro. Judge this savviness for yourselves....

Dolla Dolla $$ EP - Geisha Twins

The San Diego–based Disco House duo known as the Giesha Twins are making an ever-growing mark in the dance music scene with their Funky productions, unique live sets, and remixes. Dolla Dolla samples from a great classic, Blow Your Whistle by the Soul Searchers. A bboy anthem, at its prime has been re rubbed until   Michael Verdugo and Zac Bolick came up with the extremely hard house beat.

The EP also named Dolla Dolla , called consists of remixes from Solidisco, Mad Villans & Jackie. Released 5 days ago via Soundcloud and you can get it free below, what jolly nice fellows, amazing EP too.

Luminaire - No Use EP

This 90s pop esque track EP has been fused in big Ibiza trance sounds with a little bit of 80s funk thrown in for good measure, and it works. 'What you do' the second track on the EP is a mishmash of a lot of sounds going on almost too many but it flows and still remains to be a relaxed chilled electro beat. I would recommend best listening to be when the northern hemisphere starts to heat up again and you are outdoors at a party with a drink in one hand dancing to the sun going down.

The Kreap Remix is excellent, I think I will be pulling this out on one of my next gigs, with choppy vocal samples and a lively bar scene riff you can't help but want to wiggle along to it. This has been released by the Yeah!/Dish records label who are doing great things at the moment with exciting new artists such as Le Crayon and Moustache Machine, if you want this for free head here as the lovely people at the label have made it free.

Watch out for more of Luminaire as this is the Cambridge based artists second EP in 3 months.

Jacques Lu Cont - Church

Whoa, Jacques Lu Cont is back with a bang, often described as Alex Metrics predecessor, having been active in the industry since 1996 remixing and produccing for bands such us: New Order, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Missy Elliott, Scissor Sisters, The Killers, Pet Shop Boys, Brandon Flowers, Gwen Stefani, Seal, Keane, Frankmusik and Hard-Fi.

Also having been a member of Zoot Woman from early on as well he rarely releases many tracks as his French moniker Jacques Lu Cont (not to be confused with the others -  Les Rythmes Digitales, Paper Faces, Man With Guitar, Thin White Duke ). However this new number is just what we have been waiting for, big basslines, big bouncing drum rolls, big build-ups there is definitely nothing small about this track at all.

Chrome Canyon - Body Music EP

an EP from On the Fruit records newest darling, Chrome Canyon, a Brooklyn based producer whole loves a bit of synth and retro sounds. The EP entitled Body Music was released yesterday on all cutting edge music download sites (Beatport/Juno)

Its also features a rather excellent remix by one of our favourites, Melee Beats.

Final DJs - One Day In The Sun

Sorry I haven't been positing much recently, I've got seriously addicted to Career mode in FIFA 12, it's seriously moreish. However this caught my attention, An unsigned act from Stuttgart, Final DJs . and they have this to say:

"Straight out of Stuttgart the duo of Final DJs come. What they make is not the German style though, they make some really nice pieces of French Touch with a scent of the 80s instead. And it's really really good.
Sebastian Stütz and Thomas Del Popolo are not only best friends they've also been producing music together for twelve years. They're of course inspired of the French Touch scene with guys like Fred Falke, and you can hear some inspiration from him with basslines and such. But they also into the 80s and especially italo disco and new wave then. During the last one and a half year they've been producing more seriously and starting to get a really nice sound. I liked it from the first listen and you will too. Great Final DJs!"
