Moullinex feat Peaches - Maniac

This is the front cover for an album Moullinex, Telonius, Munk, and The Phenomenal Handclap Band, as in  producers from the Gomma label, have created re doing some of the Casablanca Records back catalogue. There are new interpretations of classic tracks by Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder, Skatt Brothers, Stephanie Mills and from the Flashdance soundtrack. 

There is only one artist who features throughout and that is Peaches, Gomma sources stated: 'For the project we needed a very special vocalist. There was only one who has the right understanding of history, the perfect dirty approach and enough soul: Peaches. And she was totally enthusiastic about that.'

It's quite a feat but Moullinex  have paid homage to the original track whilst making it sound original but still keeping that nostalgic 80s vibe running throughout.

Miami Horror – Holidays (Lenno & Jesse Oliver Remix)

The Fins have taken over! Not quite but you may have heard of Lenno, who is only 14 months old or something to that effect that would make you feel ancient. He has been mixing up quality sounding edits of Foster the People tracks and the Wombats '1996'.

He has decided to team up with fellow Finish soundster Jesse Oliver and take on the mighty Miami Horror with a tune that was originally released in August 2010.

I think they have done a spiffing job too.

Ghosts of Venice - Don't Stop the Music

One of our stand out acts of 2011, Ghosts of Venice, from Leeds have taken this popular 1980s Yarbrough & People’s classic and rework it for the present day, with filtered synths and big bass this is a house come disco track that encapsulates what the Nu-disco genre is all about and may it have a long fruitful revival.

Due to be released on the 6th February from Hed Kandi.

Coachella 2012 LineUp.

Wowzers, never said that word before but this is the only way I could describe my wonder at this years Coachella lineup which has kept it's standard as probably the most eclectic and vast festival around the world after Glastonbury.

Other Media - Machete on DVD & BluRay

"That's not a knife...oh, wait....yes it is. It's lots of knives."

Within the first 5 minutes of Robert Rodriguez’ Machete all taste, decency and logic has been completely abandoned in favour of madness, cartoonish ultra-violence and a woman hiding a mobile phone up her twat. The opening scenes are so brilliantly in-yo-face that it’s like driving past a not just a car crash, but a pile-up of clown cars and vans full of fireworks. Picture this: we open on a dusty Mexican highway with our hero Machete (Danny Trejo – a man SO HARD I think his moustache could whip me at arm wrestling on its own) and his reluctant Federalé partner disobeying direct orders and speeding toward a drug lord’s hideout to save a kidnapped girl. The partner doesn’t last very long of course. He is almost instantly rubbed out by bad-guy gunfire leaving Machete to humbly apologise to a corpse (“.…lo siento….”). He then proceeds to cut off a man’s arm and use it to shoot yet more baddies. Then he cuts off a bloke’s head and for good measure cuts the head in half (I believe this is commonly known as a ‘belt & braces’ approach). More decapitations then follow and a couple of skewerings - blood is exploding all over the stereotyped Mexican mise-en-scene as Machete finally finds the ridiculously beautiful and completely naked girl and attempts to haul her out to safety. She tries to coax him into bed first of course, but he shuns her advances so she stabs him in the thigh. Our bollock naked damsel in distress then pulls the aforementioned phone out of her lady-pocket and we learn of Machete’s double crossing.
